Linda Furiate – What types of astrology do you practice (e.g. Humanistic)? Give us an example of how you work with a client using these specifics areas of astrology.

Richard Smoot – I practice general astrology, but focus on crisis intervention and the timing of cycles.

LF – What would you define as your astrology reading specialties and why do you like working with a client utilizing these specialties?

RS – I consider my specialties to be the trends and cycles of the recent and current time as well as the client centered approach in working with my clients.

LF – You have many astrological designations and have served the astrology community extremely well in your nearly 40 years of practice – Why should a newcomer to astrology gain their certification (I.e. NCGR, ISAR) and get involved?

RS – Gaining certification is an important step in recognizing your own accomplishment for yourself. Knowing that I meet a level of standard gave me confidence in my place among my peers. In addition, certification gives credibility to your knowledge and attainment in your level of astrology. It does mean something for a few clients, however it’s within the astrology community that certification gives its recognition.

LF – In your lecture for the BDTB conference you will be talking about Chart Rectification. Briefly entice me as to how you are able to make rectification “easy and fun”.

RS – Rectification is not easy, but it can be fun! This brand of rectification “fine tunes” uncertain birth times. Once a birth charts lines up with the events in ones life, there is greater confidence in doing an astrological consult.
